Property Details

This is a flat which occupies the entire First floor of this Grade A listed Building in the Park Conservation Area. Set within an imposing period Townhouse overlooking its own well tended Residents Gardens, this elegant and beautifully presented two bedroom second floor apartment has been finished to a high standard and features well proportioned rooms throughout.

This fantastic flat is perfectly situated for both the City Centre and the West end yet benefits from a quiet and delightful outlook and setting. Whilst situated in one of Glasgow’s most prestigious residential addresses close to all the amenities and facilities that the city has to offer the flat is very secluded and private in nature.

The fully furnished property is entered via a grand entrance hall with original cornicing, which leads to inner hall, impressive Lounge diner with wooden flooring, a fully equipped eat-in kitchen with dishwasher.

The master bedroom is furnished to a high standard and benefits from a fully tiled en suite shower room. There is one further good-sized double bedroom, storage cupboard and a separate bathroom. Both bedrooms have great views towards the south of the city.

Situated moments from the shops, bars and restaurants of Central Glasgow and within easy reach of the amenities of the West End, Woodside Place is ideally located close to the green open spaces of Kelvingrove Park, while Charing Cross Station is also nearby. Motorists can gain easy access to the M8 and Clydeside Expressway both only a few minutes drive away.

History of Property
Woodside Place was built in 1838 to mirror the elegant stretch of terrace built on the rise of the drumlin to its immediate north. Like Woodside Terrace to the immediate north it was designed by George Smith, the renowned Edinburgh architect continuing his earlier commission from McHardy and Fullarton, solicitors turned property developers.

The area was developed from parkland feued from the wealthy country house estates of Wellfield, Clairmont and Woodlands which originally lay at the edge of the rapidly expanding City of Glasgow. Whilst none of these estates remain today, the terrace line of Woodlands Place follows the original road to Clairmont House gates.

Designed to accommodate the wealthy upper elite of Glasgow society who were aiming to escape west from the fumes of the rapidly industrialising city, the architecture combines the restrained use of Greek neo classic architecture with both central and end bays rising a storey in volume to strengthen the symmetry and rhythm of the block.
